Gay Head is now referred to via its original Indian name Aquinnah. Much of this area is part of the Wampanoag reservation. The Aquinnah Cliffs, photos 1 - 3, contain dramatically striated walls of red clay.
This photo of an inland pond was taken near Gay Head.
Close to Gay Head is Menemsha, a working fishing village that seems stuck in time, very quaint and picturesque. To help celebrate the fact that fresh seafood is so available here, Dick has feasted on a lobster on both of his visits.
A great bike ride back from Menemsha to the Hostel is via Middle Road. The hills are challenging to some, but not to White Mountainites!
Cedar Meadow is a lovely nature preserve. A challenging bumpy gravel road keeps the visitors to a minimum.
And what would a trip to Martha's Vineward be with at least one picture of the Chappy Bridge?
